Oak has been used for centuries and is highly desirable for its aesthetic qualities and for its strength and integrity. Oak has a fine close grain that sands down well to a lovely smooth finish, whilst retaining a beautiful natural colour. Although most people want to retain the grain and the colour of oak, it can be finished in a number of ways and will take paint and staining wonderfully.

Oak tends to be more expensive than other woods, but that is a reflection of the outstanding beauty, and longevity of the wood. Oak lends itself very well to french doors, as it slots well into most interior designs and adds warm and character to a room. Both modern and traditional interiors are enhanced when oak internal french doors are a feature.

Internal french doors made from oak have much better insinuating properties than this made form lesser quality timber. Oak has natural thermal insulating properties, keeping warm in during colder weather, and keeping cool during warm weather. Oak can also contribute to noise reduction in closed doors – an excellent plus point if there are children in the home.
