More about the French Patio Doors Collection

These French patio doors are designed to open outwards, and they come with the frame, double glazed doors (and in some cases, sidelights). They also come with all of the hardware required such as hinges and handles. Each set comes with assembly and installation instructions, which are easy to follow. The installation process is hassle-free and gives you polished and great looking doors, and a clear view of your garden from your kitchen or your living room.

Brighten Up Your Internal Living Space

Our patio doors feature large double glazed panels to let in as much natural light as possible while still offering good noise insulation and thermal insulation as well. The tough glass and double glazing ensures maximum security and is designed to withstand the kind of stresses that the average family will put them through. These doors are designed for external use and therefore lock securely.

Choose from a selection of high-quality timber, including solid oak as well as engineered oak and engineered treated softwood, ensuring that there are doors to suit any budget. We offer finished and unfinished wood, giving you the option to treat the doors with any stain or paint you wish, to match the rest of your decor.

You can also select aluminium or uPVC french doors from our varied range. Both materials are ideal for outdoor use, hardwearing and weather resistant.

Free Delivery on our Quality Doors

All of the French doors that we sell are made to comply with current Building Regulations, and we offer delivery within five days. Whether you are working on a new build or refurbishing your home, these are a great option for you. The sidelights on the Classic and Supreme models make them ideal for bigger homes and can be a refreshing alternative to bigger bifold door designs while still offering plenty of window space.

If you have an unusually sized door opening that you are looking to install French patio doors for, then you should browse our “Timber windows and Doorsets” selection. This section contains made to measure solutions, and we would be happy to work with you to create the perfect solution for you.

More and more homeowners are opting to go the French door route for the rear of their homes. This is a great way to make your home feel bigger and more open. With a good set of exterior patio doors, you can watch your kids playing in the garden in the autumn while keeping the doors closed to keep the house nice and warm. In the summer, you can open both doors to let in some fresh air and open up space onto the patio. Spacious, attractive and durable, our wooden patio doors are a splendid solution to your home renovation needs.

Questions about French Patio Doors

Can french doors be made-to-measure?

They most certainly can be, and when you shop with us, you can expect very short lead times. All you have to do is send us a link to the product that you’d like, along with the measurements you need for the outer frame and we will send you a quote covering price and manufacturing lead time.

Extra tip: We’ve explained how to take accurate measurements for your made-to-measure french doors in the answer to the next question.

How are french door frames measured?

French doors are available in a range of sizes, therefore, if you’re replacing yours, you’ll need to take accurate measurements to ensure you purchase the correct size.

When measuring, we recommend doing the following:

  1. Measure the width of the opening from the outside, from brick to brick. It’s important that you measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the structural opening as these can vary.
  2. Take the smallest of the three measurements and subtract 15mm for an accurate representation of the width of your new doors. This is the correct size to manufacture the outer frame width too, so the new frame will fit neatly into the opening you have.
  3. Next, measure the height starting from the brickwork underneath the current frame sill and up measuring up to the brickwork above the opening. Just as with the width, you need to measure the left and right-hand sides of the frame as well as the centre. This is especially important as the original lintel may have begun to sag.
  4. Subtract 10mm from the smallest measurement to know the exact height your new bifold door should be measured to.
  5. We also recommend measuring from the top left-hand corner to the bottom right-hand corner of the opening. And then from the bottom left-hand corner to the top right-hand corner to understand whether or not the opening is square.

Extra tip: If you’ve found a bifold door you love but the size you need isn’t listed, we can offer a made-to-measure quote. All we would need is the details of the product (you can send us an email with the link) and your measurements and we will get a quote over to you covering the price and manufacturing lead time.

I want to install french doors between my house and conservatory. Can I use internal french door systems with single glazing?

Because all walls between a house and conservatory are classed as external walls, you cannot use internal french door systems, even if they aren’t open to the forces of nature.

You’ll need to install thermally rated external french doors that have the correct weather seals that will keep the heat inside your home.
